Kestrel finds that in the Eastern Forest he has to put aside his plans to go to Uniontown so that he can pursue the larger quest for freedom and liberty among the elves, though the Rishiare Estelle, and the companionship of an exotic deity, make the battle complicated. Only when the civil war ends will he be able to make the journey to help Lark and her father, if it isn't too late.
Follow Kestrel as he finds conflict where he hoped to never see it, and then has to face unexpected challenges and failures before he may find the happiness he seeks.

Not satisified

I felt a little cheated on this one. A story that I've loved and followed for some time now concluded in such a rush left me feeling empty. The beginning and end of this book had events and things going so fast, so "smoothly" that it felt like the author was just trying to hurry up and finish and didn't feel like getting into it very much. I don't like to spoil but I waited 9 books to see our main character with a happy ending only to see "Oh I love her, lets get married" 5 pages later The End. Literally. I've never seen someone throw together such an empty ending before.

In need of a long Epilogue

The Imps were both funny and great at summarizing situations.
Interesting book to review. On the positive side, you can't help but enjoying the moral messages or final outcome in this book or any of the authors books. The first half of this book is excellent. The second half of the book, especially the final chapters are rather disappointing. The authors books usually end with the protagonist coming together with their "love" but you never see them together, even a single day after they come together as a couple. In this book that fact is magnified by the last moment realization and rich relationships the protagonist has had throughout the series. It's clear the protagonist had to stop looking and get past his infatuation to be prepared for real love but the real love he does find, like many before was willing to marry for financial/political gain, just like the others and never given the time to rehabilitate herself. The other thing that jumps out is the frequent widowed or engaged woman theme, in this case both combined. In my review of book 5, not knowing how the series ended, I asking if there were any women not engaged or widowed available for the protagonist...... The answer is, no. I really don't see what was gained by having her willing to participate in a second arranged marriage to a man she didn't love or how that made her any better than the previous women that did the same. After 5 books of Moorin, introducing the perfect love 50% through the final book then keeping them apart for most of that time, didn't flesh out their relationship compared to others, make it feel very special or fulfilling.
If ever a book needed an epilogue this one does, the end felt extremely rushed compared to the first half (off world) part of the book. 10 more pages with them "home" would have been great.
P.S. The female Gods "interrupted wedding" testimonialswere much less than expected.

All's well that ends well ,and this series ends well . I'm sad that the store line has come to and end, and would like for the adventure to continue but I will move on feeling very content and pleased from the many enjoyable hours spent relaxing with this adventure. I'll miss everyone!
